Our leading investigation at the moment is with Grace Darwin, 22, the widow. She's is a young flapper enjoying the life of the Roaring ’20s. She is happily married to an aspiring inventor Darwin Warren.

 

Grace loves to indulge her youth in cinema dates, fancy new technologies (developed by her husband), excellent food, and the new boundaries society is opening up for a young woman. She smokes (but not too often), she drinks (a glass of giggle water every dinner), and she covers herself in the latest fashion trend ranked by the mags.

 

Grace is an emotional girl, but she spends most of her energy on seeing the best things in life. Because of her tendency to be overjoyed, she likes to exaggerate many of her stories.

We went ahead and checked the tapes, and here's what we made of it. 

Grace Darwin (22) retells the story of a dinner party where her husband Warren Darwin (30) is murdered.

 

Grace is in the garden with her sister-in-law Bertha (32) when Warren, Peyton (30), and Geovani (55) - their dinner guests, first visit them. Dinner got interrupted by Richmond’s (42) uninvited attendance and gruff attitude. Grace recalls her little argument with Bertha after dining hours, followed by a heated fight between Peyton and Warren in the next room. Grace reveals the recent bump in Peyton and Warren’s friendship. She recalls finding Warren at Peyton’s request, which leads Grace to discover Geovani in Warren’s lab. Geovani alludes to a successful meeting with the still-missing inventor and asks Grace to find something in the cellar to celebrate. But at the cellar, Grace is frightened by a suspicious bang from somewhere upstairs. She drops the bottle to find Geovani, but instead finds an empty, messed up lab. Frantic, Grace joins Richmond and Bertha upstairs to find Warren together. But alas, she finds her beloved tied up around his arms, dangling out a balcony, and dead. Grace’s scream of terror gathers everyone.

 

Back in the interrogation room, it dawns on Grace about Geovani's questionable location. She meets the interviewer’s implication of her foul play for Warren’s money. Frustrated, Grace clears her name by showing a marital contract that underlines she cannot inherit Warren's money. In the end, the room dims to black, there’s only a spotlight cast on the grief-stricken widow crying on her knees. 

It's going to be lengthy, but you've seen our summary in the synopsis section. Of course, understanding the tape alone isn't enough, we need to map out the chain of events to prove or disprove what our suspect claimed to be the truth.
